Susanne Coie

Title: Development Services Manager

 

Susanne Coie is the Development Services Manager at the Charter Schools Development Center (CSDC). Coie is CSDC's point person for new charter school developers and assists with all aspects of school design and start-up: school planning, charter petition drafting, financial projection creation, client education on charter schools law, regulation and best practices, grant-writing, hiring and school launch tasks. Her expertise includes instruction, budgeting and school administration.

 

Coie is a founding board member of Schools in Action, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing progressive education and arts programming to underserved students in the Los Angeles area. Prior to joining CSDC, Coie was Principal and Co-Founder of the Los Angeles Leadership Academy, a charter school with a mission to prepare urban youth for college, for healthy, self-directed lives, and as civic leaders. She began her career in education with five years as a classroom teacher, helping to administer a school-within-a-school. She earned a Master of Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley, a teaching credential from California State University at Los Angeles, and a BA from Pomona College.
