Charter Currents: CDE Opens New Round of the 2020-23 Public Charter Schools Grant Program

The Charter Schools Division of the California Department of Education (CDE) has posted a request for applications (RFA) for the Public Charter School Grant Program (PCSGP). The PCSGP program is administered by the United States Department of Education (USDE), which awards funds to states based on a competitive application process. The PCSGP provides funding to support planning, implementation, replication, and/or expansion of “high quality” charter schools. The CDE indicates that $6 million in grant funding is available for the 2020-23 cycle. The 2021-23 PCSGP RFA is similar to the version posted in January 2021, with continued, significant limitations on program eligibility.
