CSDC Legislative Update: Education Committees Underway with New Chairs, Muratsuchi Supports School Choice

The California Legislature's education committees are starting to review bills in the current session. We’re still very early in the legislative process and lots of bills will inevitably fall out through the cycle and will not make it to the Governor. However, initial policy committee hearings provide an early indication of which bills “have legs” – meaning they might actually go somewhere. The new chairs leading both the Senate and Assembly committees demonstrated their leadership styles and votes on bills revealed the positions of committee members on issues important to charter schools.
