DASS Schools: Join Us on June 11 for a Live Discussion

On June 11, CSDC’s Accountability & Development Specialist, Susanne Coie, will host a live discussion to support Dashboard Alternative Status School (DASS) accountability with co-facilitators Lori Butler of Propel, A Charter Management Group, Elizabeth Frank of EdVantage IQ, and Sylvia Ginyard Tolbert of Learning Works Charter School.

Charter schools designated as DASS typically use an alternative program to serve students facing greater challenges. The California School Dashboard often cannot capture their successes, and academic performance data looks different at such schools. Accordingly, AB 1505 provided DASS schools with an alternative, customized charter renewal process. DASS charters may be non-renewed only based on a finding that closure is in the best interest of students. The charter renewal process requires charter schools and authorizers to discuss alternative metrics to be used in charter renewal.

During the webinar, the presenters will discuss alternative metrics that make sense for DASS schools and what authorizers and charter schools can expect in discussing alternative metrics. Attendees are welcome and encouraged to share their experiences throughout this opportunity.

Registration is required to participate in the live discussion.

Also: CSDC Member Schools and Authorizers interested in continued collaboration will also be welcome to participate in a DASS charter schools affinity group. More details will be available soon.
