CSDC has posted an updated version of its popular Brown Act Training for California charter school governing board members.
The Brown Act, as it is commonly known, is considered California’s sunshine law for open meetings. (The text for this law is found in Government Code 54952.)
In 2019, SB 126 required that charter school governing boards comply with the Ralph M. Brown Act and in the last couple of years there have been additional law changes, including new authorization for remote meetings as outlined in AB 361 (2021). These new provisions remain in effect until January 1, 2024.
To ensure that California charter school board members have the latest information and guidance, CSDC has re-recorded its Brown Act Training course.
This course is one part of CSDC’s Online Governance Academy, an on-demand, self-paced training that provides basic training for new members of charter school governing boards and also serves as an excellent refresher training for veteran board members and school administrators.
Online Governance Academy is available at no additional cost to CSDC Member schools. To learn more about CSDC Membership, please visit www.chartercenter.org/membership.
