Eduardo (Lalo) de León is the Executive Director and Founding Board Member of The Language Academy of Sacramento (LAS), a TK-8 Two Way Spanish Immersion Independent Charter School.
For nearly 20 years, Lalo has served the LAS community in a variety of roles that include bilingual teacher, board member, and assistant principal. Within his various roles, he has experienced three successful renewal cycles, been instrumental in growing enrollment, worked alongside staff to expand school facilities, and secured strong support within the local community.
Lalo has actively engaged local charter school leaders and worked to strengthen the relationship with their school district authorizer. The efforts have led to initiatives related to charter school policy improvements, the streamlining of authorizer requirements for charter schools, and working collaboratively with the local district to strengthen staff knowledge about charter schools.
Lalo is proud to represent a single-site charter that serves a diverse student population in two languages. He is passionate about educational issues impacting multilingual learners and recently joined the English Learner Leadership and Legacy Initiative where he is one of the few advocates representing charter schools. Lalo holds a BA, teaching and administrative credential from CSU, Sacramento and an MA in Educational Leadership from CSU, East Bay.
